Sin Pin Pier Absolutely Art Space

The Sin Pin Pier Absolutely Art Space has been in business for 21 years. It can be rated as a key landmark for visual culture outside the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts. Throughout the years, we focus on enhancing public participation to promote contemporary art creation, exhibition and discussion, promoting art education and appreciation among the public, and cultivating professional talents in administration and management. Since the Sin Pin Pier Art Association has been reorganized and registered in 2009, it treats the Sin Pin Pier as a social public property and facilitates cross-field public forums on art, culture and society to enhance civic literacy. The Association aims for transforming the Sin Pin Pier Absolutely Art Space into an art venue with “the energy of southern Taiwan” and capable of “cross-field activation”.

The “Sin Pin Pier Absolutely Art Space” was formed by over 30 members in August 1997 as a membership organization. Most of the members are elites of the Modern Art Association of Kaohsiung. Therefore, the “Sin Pin Pier Absolutely Art Space” is strongly associated with the “Modern Art Association of Kaohsiung.” For years the Sin Pin Pier has been facilitating the art and cultural development in southern Taiwan and accumulating the capacity of art, the Executive Committee of the Sin Pin Pier, ledby Huang Wen Yung, proposed that Sin Pin Pier should be treated as a “social public property” and operated based on sustainability. Therefore, the Executive Committee agreed to establish an independent civic organization. The Sin Pin Pier Art Association was officially registered and re-organized on January 10, 2009. Huang Wen Yung served as the first Chairman of the Association. Huang Chih Wei served as the second and third Chairman of the Association. Chen I Chang serves as the current Chairman of the Association.
