景點介紹
There are about 2,000 kinds of shells in the Cijin Shell Museum, with the most valuable being the nautilus of the Cypraeidae family, which is one of the “5 Kings of Shells” and also known as "Nature’s Submarine." There are currently about 4 to 5 specimens in the world, and the Cijin Shell Museum has three of those species. The “bivalve,” which is said to be gigantic, is found in the Southern Pacific Ocean, the Philippines, and Australia. The museum houses one of these impressively sized and heavy shells, as the museum’s bivalve weighs more than 70 kgs. In addition to displaying shell, the Kaohsiung Cijin Shell Museum also has a crab exhibit with more than 200 crab specimens on display, so that people can learn more about marine ecology when they visit the Kaohsiung Cijin Shell Museum.
