Kaohsiung City Museum of Weapon Art (Kuo Chang Xi)

Kuo Chang Xi, the founder of the museum, inherited his father’s business. He makes a living by iron forging and produces all kinds of daily cutlery and ironware, and all types of weapons. He developed a forging technique that can create beautiful patterns on knives and swords. His pieces become valuable artworks. He founded the weapon artifact museum to display his collections and pieces to promote the culture of forging art. Visitors can enter the museum to check out these works.

[By public transportation]
Take train and get off at Dahu Railway Station. Take taxi and get off at Xingda Elementary School. (Take the exit off the Qieding Bridge and turn left.)
[By car]
Take highway: Exit the Luzhu Interchange. Take County Highway 184 to west. Go to Luzhu Village and pass Hunei Village to enter Xingda Port in Qieding Village.
Take Provincial Highway 1: Turn west at the interchange of County Highway 184 (near Tungfang Design University). Go straight and you will arrive at Qieding.
Take Provincial Highway 17:
Northbound: Drive northbound on Provincial Highway 17 from Kaohsiung and Pingtung and you will arrive at Qieding.
Southbound: Drive southbound on Tainan Coastal Highway. Cross the Errenxi Bridge and you will enter Qieding.

The weapon artifact museum is divided into the exhibition hall and the forging classroom, which is across the exhibition hall and available for reservation of iron forging sessions. The exhibition hall is remodeled from a townhouse. We hesitated a bit when we were at the gate because this place looked like a typical residence. However, we took the tour and we were glad that we had such a rare chance to check out all kinds of weapons. The exhibition hall consists of two townhouses without walls in between. It has two stories: 1F: “Souvenir Area,” “Special/Temporary Exhibition Space” and “Taiwan Indigenous Area” 2F: “Area for Weapons throughout the History” and “Taiwan Song Jiang Battle Array Special Exhibition Space”
