景點介紹
Kaohsiung Hamasen was a sea area; during the Japanese Rule Period, the Japanese government built a harbor in Kaohsiung. In order to facilitate the dredging work, the sediments and debris removed from the bottom of the sea area were used to create a new land called "Hamasen" which can then be divided into three administrative districts, Shinhamacho, Minatocho, and Kotobukicho. Because of the development of the coastal line railway and the Port of Kaohsiung, the important economic and administrative bases were located in this area, which was Kaohsiung's earliest administrative center, and the streets in the area were planned on the basis of the urban planning project. At that time, Kaohsiung was the most prosperous area; however, after the war, the fishery and shipping industry were moved to the 2nd Port of Kaohsiung, the area declined rapidly and became deserted. It was 2 or 3 years ago when the Shinhamacho was about to be demolished, the NGO organization Takao Renaissance Association started to be stationed in the Sin Bin Old Street and promoted a series of cultural conservation campaigns. Because of their effort, we are able to see the prosperous scene in the old times.
