Liuhe Night Market

In the 1950’s, many street stalls were gathered on the empty land nearby Dagangpu in Xinxing District, Kaohsiung City. As time went by, “Dapangpu Night Market” that was famous for its street food was born and was later on turned into today’s Liuhe Night Market. Liuhe Night Market is 380 meters long with a total of 170 stalls, which are mostly for street foods and games; stalls selling clothes and groceries are less commonly seen. The most unique view would be the numerous steakhouses, which amount to more than ten restaurants of various sizes selling reasonably priced family style steak meals. In addition, there are also various restaurants selling food made of mountain produce, local specialties, cold beverages, frozen desserts, and seafood. Among the amazingly wide selection, salt steamed shrimps, papaya milk, rice tube pudding, stinky tofu, mullet tendon, seafood porridge, fish soup, Shiquan Chinese herbal ribs soup, Ta-a noodles, and fried Spanish-mackerel thick soup are all Kaohsiung City’s specialty dishes that visitors shall not miss! Also, the Liuhe Night Market offers at the same time many stalls with exotic flavors. For example, there is Turkish ice cream sold by Turkish vendors, Mexican tortillas sold by Mexicans, and fashion accessories sold by Japanese and Indonesian people, which are all so unique and waiting for all visitors to explore!
