Former Kaohsiung City Council

On July 1st, 1979, Kaohsiung City was converted to a municipality, and the City Council was also reformed to be “Kaohsiung City Temporary City Council.” On December 25, 1981, the 1st Municipal City Council was founded.

The original Kaohsiung City Council already has more than 5 decades of history. The former location occupies an area of 1.19 hectares and is nearby Zhongzheng Road, Ziqiang Road, Liuhe Road, and Investigation Bureau, Kaohsiung City and other government offices. An MRT Orange Line station is right by Zhongzheng Road; and the Former City Council is also next to the MRT Formosa Boulevard Station. In addition to the Council Room at the front, there is the Gaofeng Building at the back of the Former Kaohsiung City Council that serves as Councilors’ lounge – with a total of more than 50 rooms with an approximate size of 8 ping, bathrooms and small living rooms, which are ideal to be converted into hotels.
