Kezailiao Fishing Port

The Kezailiao Fishing Port is located on the coast of Kaohsiung, which is dozens of kilometers long. Rich fish resources are available in the coastal waters. Fishermen in Kaohsiung and even Fangliao are attracted by the robust auction system of the fish market. Therefore, they love to come here for fish unloading and trading. The Kezailiao Fishing Port is a traditional fishing port of production site. The catch sold at the fish market is mostly fresh and comes from the fishing boats sailing back and forth in offshore. It is very popular among fresh fish markets. Fishing boats put to sea every day at 3 AM to 4 AM and return at 12 PM. They unload the catch at the fish market. Fishing trading is held at 12 PM and 16 PM. Four to five thousand visitors come to the fish market on holidays for the fresh catch.

Kezailiao is in Xinke Village, Ziguan District. It was a small fishing village that makes a living by fishing and oyster farming. For the past few years, the local youths and the government made great efforts and successfully transformed this traditional fishing village into a tourist fishing port and a tourist fish market. Fishermen from nearby areas are attracted by the well-rounded auction system. The fresh catch from the port increases gradually. This fish market has the highest fresh catch in Taiwan. Kezailiao is an important place of origin of mullet roe. The Kezailiao Fish Market introduced the advanced HACCP system to ensure the freshness and safety of the catch. When the fish boats return every afternoon, the bustling market becomes crowded and it is filled with all kinds of catch. At the Kezailiao Fishing Port, visitors can watch fish sale at the fish market and pick the catch. The tasty seafood at all kinds of vendors can definitely satisfy everyone’s taste buds. In-depth tours are available, such as a visit to the fish refrigeration plant, a tour to check out the fish basket, seafood rice ball DIY and blue highway (boat tour). If you’re able to walk further, you can go to the Chikan Settlement in Ziguan to check out the old red brick sanheyuan and traditional fishing village.
