In 9th year of Jiaqing Reign of Qing Dynasty (1804), County Magistrate Wu Chao-lin built 6 city gates in Fengshan County and the East Minor Gate (Dongbian Gate) is one of them. But after experiencing devastation over the years, Dongbian Gate has become the only historical city gate left in Fengshan County. So it represents a special symbolic space-time meaning, making it a municipal Historic Site. Dongfu Bridge crosses over Dongmen Creek or today’s Fengshan River. The boat-shaped pier has nearly two centuries of history. This hexagonal surface of the pier is coupled with the bow shapes on both side of the pier. It is a Chinese style pier built during the period of Qing rule and is currently the only one of its kind left in Taiwan, possessing a precious rarity.
