Cishan’s Wude Martial Art Center is located in Taiwan’s Kaohsiung City Cishan District. After it was burned down in 1994, the destroyed wood structure of the Hall made theKaohsiung County Cishan Town Office to apply to the Ministry of the Interior’s Construction and Planning Agency for funding. The Hall’s restoration didn’t begin until the year 2000.
The Wude Martial Art Center was reopened on November 18, 2001 after the restoration was completed, but it wasn’t restored to its original appearance. The original black tile roof was changed to a glass curtain, and the residents of Cishan felt that it looked awkward. Control Committee MembersRong-yao Chao and Shen-yi Lee felt that it was a pity for a historical site to lose its original features.
In addition to the issues with the Wude Martial Art Center’s appearance after its restoration, the interior of the Hall was too stuffy and hot during the summer. In April 2014, the second restoration project was carried out as the glass roof of the Wude Hall was demolished and changed back to a black-tiled roof and the surrounding landscape was beautified. The Hall was re-opened on December 21st, 2014.
