COFCH (The Center of Old Fongshan City History)

COFCH is one of the landmarks in Zuoying of Kaohsiung City. It's located on the shores of Lianchitan, was formerly the Kaohsiung City Military Dependents' Village Cultural Hall. It reserves the household objects and stories that signify the military dependents' village as well as displays the hometown culture brought by the post-World War II soldiers. It demonstrates the humane context of Taiwan's unique military dependents' settlements. Once, it was used as an important pointer to record the era of the military dependents' village in Kaohsiung, which carry the people's impression on the life of the military dependents' village and the historical traces. It is the best witness to the cultural development and change of Kaohsiung City Military Dependents' Villages.

Driving Route
To the entrance of the parking lot: Go along the right side of the Lianchitan's "Haiguang Parking Lot." Walk for about 2 minutes to reach the destination.
To the entrance of the Old Town: Enter from the Level 1 historic site, the east gate of the Zuoying Old Town. Walk for about 3 minutes to reach the destination.

In 2007 (ROC 96) Kaohsiung City Military Dependents' Village Cultural Hall was established; next year, Kaohsiung City Military Dependents' Village Cultural Development Association was entrusted to take over the management until September 15, 2017 (ROC106) when the hall was suspended for renovation. In response to the project, Regeneration of Historic Site, by the Ministry of Culture as well as the project," Regeneration of Zuoying Old Town" by the Cultural Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, the place was transformed into the "COFCH" and it was completed on March 3, 2018 (ROC 107) to display the prosperity and decline of Zuoying Old Town as well as its changes. It's hoped to bring people a brand-new Old Town experience and get close to the local people's memory of history; also, it's the best sample model of construction re-use.
COFCH is Taiwan's only one dynamic model of Old Town displaying the light sculpture projection, by using new technology to depict old history. On the 1st floor, it's an exhibition space using AR technology to display "See the Old Town Through the Time and Space;" and the 2nd floor, it's a VR interactive design, "Our Old Town." It's not only integrated with traditional visual and virtual technology but also equipped with sensors and multi-dimensional information VR system to increase the sensory experience and provide a brand-new way to see the old town. It's hoped to re-interpret and reconstruct the old town and the historic traces dating back to the Ming Zheng period. Also, people will enjoy the tour as if entering an old town with 100 years old history through the 3D interactive experience that leads people to go through ancient times until the present, an old town tour crossing time and space.
